Welcome!
Hi, I'm Dan Feller. I'm the Senior Technical Designer at Ideapark, an ad agency in Minneapolis. I spend a majority of my time managing a small team of developers, building websites, and working on core and specialized HTML email campaigns for General Mills. During my time at Ideapark, I've gained experience working on everything from simple HTML emails to complex user engagement campaigns, to flash-based timelines.
My education
I attended Full Sail University in Orlando, FL., which, to this day, is probably the best decision I've ever made. What makes Full Sail unique is its accelerated learning program in which students are in class between 40 and 50 hours week, not including homework and projects. The school operates on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis. Though the schedule was extremely rigorous, it taught me not only the tools of my trade, but also lessons in time management, meeting deadlines, and....staying awake for days on end to complete a project. Because of Full Sail's fast paced learning environment, I was able to graduate with two separate degrees in two years. (Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business and Associate of Science in Digital Media)
Lets get personal
When I'm not working on an interactive project, whether it's for work or for personal interests, I spend my time with my son, which generally consists of racing toy cars, building Lego castles, and memorizing songs from Sesame Street.
In addition to playing with my son, and involving myself with web-based projects, I spend my time as an electronic music enthusiast and amateur DJ. I am very involved with the electronic community in the Twin Cities, specifically in the genre of Dubstep. And if all else fails and I'm not doing any of the above, chances are I'm either playing video games or coming up with the next big idea for a project I'll someday do (there's lots and lots of those).
Websites I built from the ground up using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and in some cases, the famous Wordpress CMS. This is by far my favorite thing to do in interactive, specifically Javascript and Jquery.

A project created for TORO in conjunction with a major release of 4 brand new "green" lawn mowers, specifically targeting golf courses. I lead a team of developers to create this, with my primary responsibilities including the jquery, html, and css for the various mower pages, as well as coordinating development assets with the other two members of my team.

Dunn Bros Coffee is in the middle of a full brand redesign, including a brand new website which features a Wordpress Multiuser blog for not only the corporate office, but for each of their 90 stores nationwide. I am responsible for all of the HTML, CSS and wordpress implementation.
Unfortunately, since this site is not yet live, all I can give you is the development link. Pretty much everything is in there, except for real content, but it should still give you a pretty good idea of what I've been up to.

In partnership with General Mills, Suze Orman, host of the Suze Orman Show on NBC, launched a website geared toward...well...money-minded moms. This site's primary purpose was to provide a blog in which users would have the opportunity to hear directly from Suze Orman, as well as submit questions regarding their own personal financing.
You can see the live site at MoneyMindedMoms.com, however the current live version is NOT the site I built. The original site was taken down when the project was moved to Suze Orman's internal tech staff for ongoing modifications and updates.Unfortunately, when this change-over happened, most of the code I wrote was lost.
HTML emails developed for General Mills, sent using Silverpop, a leader in HTML email marketing and distribution. Each of these emails adhere to the very strict guidelines of HTML email best-practices.
Betty Crocker is just one of the many General Mills brands I work with on a daily basis. Here is an example of their bi-monthly newsletter sent to over 5 million recipients.
Here's an example of Pillsbury's bi-monthly newsletter. In addition to this core newsletter, Pillsbury also sends a bi-monthly Cooking for Two email, for which I am also responsible.
A sub-brand of Betty Crocker, Dinner Made Easy is one of General Mills' top performing newsletters. Here's an example of the weekly email I build for Dinner Made Easy.
Box Tops 4 Education sends about three standard emails a month. Here is an example from their Marketplace Series, featuring deals from retailers associated with Box Tops.
Another member of the Betty Crocker family, here's an example of the bi-monthly Bisquick Newsletter.
The following projects were created by Spectrum Workshop, a small freelance-based company I started with a fellow designer/developer. I was responsible for all aspects of client relations and project management.

Created for Sunrise Creative Gourmet, an Italian food company well known for their locally made organic pastas, available at most health food grocers in the Twin Cities. Site features recipes, products, and a company history.
There was a time when I considered myself an expert in the area of Flash and Actionscript. However, since discovering my current love and joy (jquery), Flash has been knocked down in my list of things to keep up with, so Actionscript 2 is about as far as it goes for me. That said, here are a couple of pretty cool projects that I built.
As a part of a major site overhaul, Mills Fleet Farm included an interactive timeline of their company's history.
Red Wing shoes launched a microsite for their Heritage brand and leather boots. A part of this microsite featured an interactive timeline of Red Wing Shoes.
From the homepage of Redwing, click on "North America", and then the link that says "Red Wing Heritage" to get to the timeline.
